“InsertKit” Product Description

Final Product Worm InsertKit

Worm composting is an ideal way to divert food residuals from your other waste bin. Keeping food waste out of garbage and landfills helps reduce greenhouse gases from landfills. Food and organic waste buried in landfills create methane gas which is 21 times more powerful than CO2. More importantly, worm castings are a water-soluble, hormone rich plant food that all plants love. Keeping food waste out of the garbage been keeps other recyclables cleaner and reduces trash removal frequency.

Worm composting if done properly generates no odor. Worms do not eat the food waste directly, they attack and consume the microbes and bacteria, which work to break the food down. Worm composting is a great way to introduce children to biology, life cycles, gardening, sustainability and recycling. It is safe, easy to do and rewarding.

Worm composting can be done during winter months when your outdoor composter is buried in snow, or it is too cold. In the spring, the worm bin contents can be placed into your outdoor bin where the worms will work effectively to break organics down. Come fall, you can round up some worms from the outdoor composter and start up in door worm composting for the winter. Worm composting is an excellent recycling tool for folks living in apartments and condominiums who do not have access to an outdoor composter.
